The 4-Step Emergency Protocol
- File a Police Report Immediately: Visit the nearest local police station (Emniyet Müdürlüğü) to report the loss or theft. Obtain an official, stamped police report (Tutanak). This document is mandatory for your embassy and for proving you didn't overstay illegally.
- Contact Your Embassy or Consulate: Locate your country’s diplomatic mission in Ankara, Istanbul, or Izmir. Request an emergency travel document or a replacement passport. Bring your police report, passport photos, and any secondary ID (e.g., driver’s license, digital copies of your lost passport).
- Apply for a New Turkey eVisa: Once you have your new emergency passport (which will have a new passport number), you must submit a brand new Turkey eVisa application. The old eVisa cannot be transferred.
- Visit Local Immigration (If Required): In some cases, if your original eVisa was close to expiring or if you overstayed while resolving the issue, you may need to visit the local Provincial Directorate of Migration Management (Göç İdaresi) to regularize your status before departure.
