Understanding Turkey's Visa Policy

Navigating the entry requirements for Turkey is the first step in planning your trip. Depending on your nationality, you may be eligible to apply for an electronic visa (eVisa), qualify for visa-free entry, or need to secure a traditional sticker visa before your departure.

The Turkey eVisa System

Turkey provides two primary types of eVisas. Your eligibility depends entirely on your citizenship:

1. Tourist and Business eVisa

There are two distinct paths for obtaining this document:

Standard Online Application

Citizens from specific countries can secure their authorization solely by using a valid passport. No additional documentation is required during the digital application process.

Documentation-Based Application

Nationals from other specified countries must possess one additional valid document. This requirement typically involves holding a currently valid visa or a residence permit issued by the United Kingdom, the United States, Ireland, or any member of the Schengen Area.

Transit eVisa

This permit is specifically designed for travelers passing through Turkey while en route to a final destination in another country.

Visa-Free Entry

Travelers from a broad range of countries may enter Turkey without securing a visa beforehand. This policy applies to short-term visits for tourism or business. Depending on your specific citizenship, the duration of your visa-free stay may range from 30 to 90 days.
